BIO

Aníbal Martel Peña (Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain, 1978) is a photographer currently working as a correspondent for international press agencies in the United States. He studied photography, photojournalism and journalism in Gran Canaria and Madrid (School of Art and Design, CEV, and Complutense University), where he began his career as an independent documentary and editorial photographer in 2003. From that moment, he has developed his photographic work in various capacities: print media, digital media, and press agencies.

In 2016 Aníbal had a solo exhibition on his long-term project about the Canary Islander descendants in the United States, “CISLANDERUS”, which was also held in Washington DC, in 2017. This photographic project is currently a traveling exhibition through Louisiana State Museum until 2020. 

His photographs have been exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, the Angel Orensanz Foundation, See.Me Gallery, Casa Museo Colón, and Embassy of Spain in the United States among others...
